longboard deck show - friday october 23rd 7-11pm
It’s been a year and we’re still here! This in itself is cause to celebrate, but we decided to go all out and make it a part of our longboard deck show that’s been in the works for the past 8 months. We have given decks to a variety of local artists to customize. In case you aren’t familiar with longboards, these aren’t regular skateboard decks they measure roughly 3′ in length and ride a lot like a surfboard would on cement. We will have DNA shirts, freebies, beer and wine available for this one night reception! Find us on the map here.

caleb jacks - friday october 9th
This month is crazy busy and very special for us! Starting with the annual Plaza District Festival Oct. 3, 3-11 PM, the district will host local artists, bands, and performers throughout the day and we will be having a HUGE sale which will most likely spill out onto the sidewalk. Next is our monthly exhibit and we are very proud to host Caleb Jacks from Texas. His illustrations are humorous, intricate and lighthearted and personally, we cant wait to pick out our own! Finally, on the 23 we are having our 1 year anniversary celebration. Ideas are still in the works, but we will have sweets, freebies, and our much anticipated longboard deck show featuring a variety of local artists who have spent the last 6 months working on their customized longboard decks. Our friends at Flip’d were gracious enough to help us out and offered us some sponsorship in the form of affordable decks thanks guys!

fannys back - fanny pack fashion show friday august 14th
The wait is finally over, Fanny’s Back is taking place Friday August 14th at 8:15pm! We have been planning this event for months now and can’t wait to see you there. There will be a runway with a red carpet set up right in front of our store. The fashion show will consist of a collection of fanny packs from Junkprints based out of Brooklyn, NY along with some choice vintage and retro style fanny packs from all over! All the Junkprints fanny packs are limited edition and handmade, oh and did we mention they are the coolest fanny packs ever!
Don’t miss this event! And remember to rock your best fanny pack, you might just win a prize!

abby stiglets - friday august 14th
Again a little late on our posts this month, but we will be featuring Abby’s work in the gallery through September 4th. Abby is another artist from our store and has produced some great work for this event. She has a wide range of sizes and are so happy with her work.

help me get to germany - friday june 26th
Dylan Bradway of DNA Galleries has landed a show in Germany in September at Nice/Nice Exhibition Space. So now he needs to raise some funds to get there.
We will be holding a fundraiser on Friday June 26th at DNA Galleries from 7-11pm. There will be a raffle for some original artwork from Dylan, and if you buy a raffle ticket you get an art print, so that’s a win win win. We will also have a limited run of some new t-shirts made especially for the event, many new art prints and some limited edition screen prints.
So come out, have some fun and help support you local artists!

friday june 12th 2009 - spencer tracy
This will be a great time! We are featuring new work by Spencer Tracy who specializes in a illustration style of painting and fills his works with odd but interesting imagery and figures. Along with the oddities of Spencer’s art, will be the musical styling of Father Phil and Stuffed Animal Suicide from the KND. We also have a bunch of new stuff in the store, and we just launched our online store…so go check it out.
The Plaza District will be filled with things to see and do on June 12th. The Velvet Monkey is having there Grand Opening event to launch their newest store located at 16th and Blackwelder. There will be tons of art, live music, bicycle gangs, hot rods, roller derby girls along with rock-a-billy music and fashion. Sure to be a good time.

friday may 8th, 2009 - amanda dyer
Be sure to come out and support emerging artist Amanda Dyer on Friday May the 8th from 7-11pm. This is sure to be a colorfully creative show filled with inspiring works. Live music will be provided by The Workweek. The opening will be held during the Plaza District’s 2nd Friday art walk, show runs until June 5th.
We will also be launching a fun new line of dresses created by Big Mama Productions, just in time for summer. Various other new items will also be making they’re way into our retail area, so be sure to come check it out.

friday april 10th, 2009 - josh heilaman w/ dj garistotle
This is going to be a great show and one of our biggest this year! DNA will be hosting the work of one of our favorite artists and close friend, Josh Heilaman. The opening will be from 7-11pm and feature the funky musical stylings of DJ Garistotle along with a limited edition tshirt release.
We will also have new prints by resident artist Dylan Bradway. All proceeds from the purchase of these prints will go to raise money for his trip to Germany in September. He he has been invited to have a solo exhibit at Nice/Nice in Hannover, Germany, but he needs your help to get there.
