alex despain: so here we are - friday february 12th

For February we are bringing in a good friend of ours that moved to the massive state just south of us a while back. Alex Despain is an emerging artist that grew up here in the 405 and has been building up a strange but great portfolio for the last few years. His work is chaotic, a little creepy and very colorful at times. Show your support by coming out to the opening from 7-11pm during the 2nd Friday art walk in the Plaza District.

Special for this months art walk we will also be carrying freshly wrapped single roses for your special someone. OVAC will also be in the house promoting Momentum Oklahoma City, their annual exhibition that features Oklahoma artists 30 years and younger.

nic shelton - friday january 8th

To start off the year we are featuring an emerging Oklahoma artist Nic Shelton. With artwork covered in colorful and creative imagery,  this is sure to be a fun time. It might be cold out so bundle up, or come by and get yourself a new Support Local Art Scarf to keep warm. Oh and be sure to come out to actually support some local art :)

One more thing, we are also now carrying a wide selection of urban art books.

anthony myers - friday december 11th

This month we will be hosting Oklahoma native, now Arkansas resident, Anthony Meyers. Each individual work in this show is displayed beautiful ornate dark wood frame, also created by the artist. This series is a part of Anthony’s recent zine “The Death of Charlie” which will also be for sale the night of the exhibit. This is the first show he has had in Oklahoma for more than 5 years. It doesnt come around here often folks, so dont miss it!

michelle himes-mccrory - friday november 13th

We will be featuring one of our very favorite female artists, Michelle McCrory, this Friday! We are very excited to have her work filling our space for a whole month. This opening will be in conjunction with the Plaza’s second Friday Oklahoma birthday celebrations. DNA will have DJ NEU out in front with a large Oklahoma shaped birthday cake and lots of Oklahoma artist made clothing and accessories for sale.

Other going’s ons around the Plaza this Friday include the GRAND OPENING of two new businesses! We are proud to welcome Juju Gallery and Shop Good, our new neighbors!

longboard deck show - friday october 23rd 7-11pm

It’s been a year and we’re still here! This in itself is cause to celebrate, but we decided to go all out and make it a part of our longboard deck show that’s been in the works for the past 8 months. We have given decks to a variety of local artists to customize. In case you aren’t familiar with longboards, these aren’t regular skateboard decks they measure roughly 3′ in length and ride a lot like a surfboard would on cement. We will have DNA shirts, freebies, beer and wine available for this one night reception! Find us on the map here.

caleb jacks - friday october 9th

This month is crazy busy and very special for us! Starting with the annual Plaza District Festival Oct. 3, 3-11 PM, the district will host local artists, bands, and performers throughout the day and we will be having a HUGE sale which will most likely spill out onto the sidewalk. Next is our monthly exhibit and we are very proud to host Caleb Jacks from Texas. His illustrations are humorous, intricate and lighthearted and personally, we cant wait to pick out our own! Finally, on the 23 we are having our 1 year anniversary celebration. Ideas are still in the works, but we will have sweets, freebies, and our much anticipated longboard deck show featuring a variety of local artists who have spent the last 6 months working on their customized longboard decks. Our friends at Flip’d were gracious enough to help us out and offered us some sponsorship in the form of affordable decks thanks guys!

fannys back - fanny pack fashion show friday august 14th

The wait is finally over, Fanny’s Back is taking place Friday August 14th at 8:15pm! We have been planning this event for months now and can’t wait to see you there. There will be a runway with a red carpet set up right in front of our store. The fashion show will consist of a collection of fanny packs from Junkprints based out of Brooklyn, NY along with some choice vintage and retro style fanny packs from all over! All the Junkprints fanny packs are limited edition and handmade, oh and did we mention they are the coolest fanny packs ever!

Don’t miss this event! And remember to rock your best fanny pack, you might just win a prize!

abby stiglets - friday august 14th

Again a little late on our posts this month, but we will be featuring Abby’s work in the gallery through September 4th. Abby is another artist from our store and has produced some great work for this event. She has a wide range of sizes and are so happy with her work.

Don’t forget about the Fanny Pack Fashion Show the same night as her opening!

Ok, so we’re a little late getting our post up this month, but we will be featuring Billy’s work in the gallery through June 30. Billy is one of the artists we carry in store regularly but these works will only be available through the end of the month so be sure to come see them! In the meantime, we are very busy getting ready for our Fanny Pack Fashion show for next second Friday! Stay tuned…

help me get to germany - friday june 26th

Dylan Bradway of DNA Galleries has landed a show in Germany in September at Nice/Nice Exhibition Space. So now he needs to raise some funds to get there.

We will be holding a fundraiser on Friday June 26th at DNA Galleries from 7-11pm. There will be a raffle for some original artwork from Dylan, and if you buy a raffle ticket you get an art print, so that’s a win win win. We will also have a limited run of some new t-shirts made especially for the event, many new art prints and some limited edition screen prints.
